Next week will be our 1 year anniversary of living in our home. When I first walked into the house it definitely wasn't love at first sight. It took a little imagination but I could eventually see that there was potential. The more I dreamed of what it could be the more I fell in love and wanted it to be my home.

We have been slowly working on projects around the house, mostly to "de-late 80's-early-90's" the place. I have such admiration for those that are good at design. My blog reader is comprised purely of celebrity gossip, photographers, and designers. I lack much skill in this area so I turned to the talent of the ladies at Nest Design for help. Heather and Jennifer are such skilled designers and were able to turn my living room into a space I absolutely treasure. Here are a few before and after shots of one of my favorite rooms in my house.

Over the weekend Paul and I headed down to Carmel to attend the wedding of a very dear friend. I have known Krisi for years and years and I have never seen her happier than when she walked down the aisle to say her vows to Andrew. It was a beautiful day at the Mission Ranch with peaceful sheep grazing in the background. I brought my camera and one roll of film to shoot some personal images. I was thrilled to be a guest at such a gorgeous celebration. Congrats to the newlyweds!

The Princess Project is a San Francisco based non-profit that outfits girls with a free prom dress. For many a new dress and all the expenses that go with prom are not in the budget. The organization collected over 6,000 dresses and hundreds of accessories. Every one of them free to the close to 1,000 attending the weekend giveaway.
I had the privilege of photographing the first of the giveaways scheduled to happen throughout the month. The girls where full of excitement as they sifted through the racks and racks of dresses with the help of volunteers who were there to serve as personal shoppers. The best part of the day was seeing the smiles on the faces of all the beautiful girls who found a dress they loved and can now happily look forward to a fabulous prom.
The president of The Princess Project is Katie, my bestie, who I have been friends with for over two decades. I'm so incredibly proud of Katie and the work the entire organization is doing for these girls and for our community. I know there have been and will continue to be countless volunteer hours put into this cause as they aim to serve over 2,000 this prom season.
Their motto is simple, "Making Dreams Real - with time, talent & taffeta", and that's exactly what they did over the weekend.

I am a member of the Auxiliary for the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Contra Costa County. A few weeks ago we held our annual "It Shouldn't Hurt to be a Child" benefit luncheon at the beautiful Diablo Country Club. The council strives to prevent child abuse in the county through coordination of services and programs, information sharing, in home visiting and public advocacy. The Council believes that every child has the right to grow up free from the pain and trauma of abuse. As a mother, it is heartbreaking to know that some children are living through such painful situations and know I that this organization is working hard to eliminate child abuse. Since the fall the 12 active board members of the Auxiliary have been planning the event and hoping for its success. It was indeed a fabulous event thanks in part to so many giving people.
The event raised approximately $37,000 with 100% of the money going to CAPC.
Thank you to the guests who attended and generously gave. Thank you to all that donated items for the silent auction. Most importantly thank you to CAPC for all the work and good you are doing in the community! It is a privilege to help serve this amazing organization.
I was busy running around but I managed to snap a few pictures....

Not all that long ago I would have liked to have thought of myself as a fun loving girl who was living it up in the city. Well clearly times have changed because this suburban M-R-S and mom is fired up about a recent furniture revamp I just completed.

We moved into our home about 6 months ago and have been settling in and decorating. When we moved in we were blessed with some "vintage" wallpaper (think crazy ivy and lots of hot 80's florals). It has been a process but I find it quite enjoyable. I have recently become obsessed with design blogs.
This old desk was mine as a child but was in need of some flare.

After some sanding, primer, paint, and fab new knobs from Anthropologie my old desk now has a new home in Piper's room. Next up for the room is some wall art and window treatments. I'll share some more home transformations soon enough.
In the meantime I leave for Vegas this weekend for WPPI (a mega convention for wedding and portrait photographers) where I hope to regain a little of my cool back.

Didn't you know that all you have to do is take a bottle of Bacardi in one hand and a coke in the other, close your eyes and just tap your heels together, and keep saying "I will be cool....I will be cool...I will be..." well, that is until the baby screams and then you just pour the drink and have a nice BIG sip!!! ; )

Beautiful Sia! This could easily translate as a client meeting space as well! ; )
(06.29.11 @ 12:12 PM)Hi Sia! I know Rupa and I went to your site through seeing her comment on Facebook! I love what you have done with the place! We just bought a house that resembles yours from a year ago. This is really inspiring and hopefully we can turn ours around in such a way! I know you feel so happy about your HGTV- like room! :)
(06.29.11 @ 01:09 PM)I love it! The floors make me drool.
