"S-I-A. Like - 'seeya' later."
We spent the entire first morning introducing ourselves. Spelling our names for one another and asking each other questions about our lives. It became much more than an introduction. We were laying the ground work for getting to know each other better so that we would eventually be for each other.
When I first started down the professional photography road I eagerly read Dane's book. I then met him at Imaging USA and then later at WPPI. During our brief interactions he struck me as honest and sincere and someone who truly encourages a community among my peers. I was on the fence about incurring another workshop expense especially all the way in Atlanta so I asked around for some reviews. Every past attendee had virtually the same response - "GO!". And so I went and the course of my photography career is forever changed.
Dane is a visionary - both deliberate and caring. I took away so many things from the workshop. Ways to make me a better photographer, business owner, and person. I left knowing that I can stretch my capacity to dream.
More importantly Dane's workshop brought together a group of photographers who in two short days became my friends. Friends who are there to encourage my dreams and to push me down the road. I'm there to do the same for them because that's what friends are for. For each other.
